Cotton top cactus (E. Polycephalus subs. Xeranthemoides) [ golden variety ] Seeds. 125 pack. Native to Western Mojave desert. Collected in Lancaster, CA from private land over a few hundred acres. I never harvest more then 25% of my cactus seeds to allow for nature to also propogate them. I also spread seeds close to native cactus for the wind and animals to plant them.
I never collect from public lands or private land that isn’t mine, and I never remove barrel cacti, I leave them in place to collect seeds. I hope to offer seeds so people stop collecting the cactus in the wild. I usually collect 35-200k seeds a year. currently the seeds i have are from the 2024 harvest. They are collected fresh, only few weeks since I’ve started collecting them, not years old seeds. Stored in mason jars away from sun & moisture.
These seeds are tough to get. You have to wait until summer to carefully collect fruit with small pruners through all the spines. Each cactus only makes a few fruit
