A legendary amplifier once praised by Tetsuo Nagaoka.

The A-10 series, a result of NEC's full-fledged entry into the audio world, is a pre-main amplifier that pursues physical characteristics with a thorough, massive construction. It's said that if it were made today, it would cost over 300,000 yen. Its sound, characterized by faithful reproduction of the original sound and boundless power, is overwhelming.

This is a valuable unit that has undergone a thorough full maintenance, including disassembly cleaning, parts replacement, and upgrades. The power indicator lamp has been replaced with an LED. The exterior is in near-new condition with no scratches or dirt. (Fully functional, beautiful units are rare and rarely appear in the used market.)

Here is some technical information:

The structure employs a unique mechanical ground construction. This involves using materials and structures that thoroughly suppress the vibration of each component. On top of that, computer simulations are used to cancel the vibrations of each component with different vibration modes within the overall structure. This simplified vibration is then transferred to the massive feet and grounded to the earth.

The bottom plate is made of 3.2mm thick steel. Additionally, a cross beam is employed to integrate the left and right side brackets, rear panel, and heat sink. The bottom and cross beam are connected by four beams, and the power transformer core is securely fixed to these beams. A chimney-type heat sink is also used to prevent fin noise.

This rigid structure eliminates sound muddiness and cloudiness.

To approach the ideal image of an amplifier as a single wire with amplification, the Simple & Straight philosophy is adopted. This achieves pure quality through direct connection with one contact point, bypassing all auxiliary circuits as needed.

To enjoy the excellent dynamic range and high quality of digital sources like CDs, a direct input to the power amplifier section is included.

A massive reserve power system is employed for the power supply.

Push-pull amplification circuits are used in all amplification stages, and the final amplification stage uses the 2SA-1227 and 2SC-2987, which leverage NEC's semiconductor technology for super linearity, in a parallel push-pull configuration.
