IBM Thinkpad A31 - Working - Please read the description

Recently I came about a legendary and rare Thinkpad A31. At some point in its life someone must have had the power plug and some USB devices connected to the back and they somehow broke the ports.

I was able to source a new power port and I replaced it. I also cleaned the entire inside and replaced the CPU thermal paste with quality Arctic MX-4. I could not source the part to replace the USBs, so I added an Adaptec USB 2.0 . The original ports were only 1.0. the rear ports do actually still work but I would recommend using the new side ports they are much faster anyway.

The clock battery was replaced as well. I added a battery holder so in the future you can replace the battery with any off the shelf CR-2032.

CD drive was dead so I replaced it with a new old stock DVD-RW.

The batteries that power the laptop do take a charge but it doesn't last long. Unit comes with OEM PSU, restore CD, adaptec USB PCMCIA, two batteries (one in the side bay) and new old stock OEM DVD-RW.
