This is a reproduction of the official Sega 32X Extension Unit which resolved an issue with the 32X not working on some Genesis/Mega Drive consoles.
It consists of pulldown resistors on some of the data lines and is intended for use with VA0 32X units, but can also resolve VA1 32X not starting up on some Genesis consoles. If you have a Sega CD plugged in, you do not need this as the CD has these pulldown resistors already.
If you have a 32X that is having trouble running on your Genesis/Mega Drive, such as getting a black screen when turning it on or freezes and instability, this may make it work. This is not guaranteed as it only addresses one specific problem.
I personally have seen this resolve issues on a Genesis Model 1 VA6 and a Genesis Model 2 VA0 with a VA1 32X. Turning the console on without this plugged in would just give me a black screen, and plugging this in made it work correctly.
