A floater is defined as a snuff bottle made of stone that is so light and hollowed out that it can float in water. Many floaters are often made out of agate or chalcedony. This pretty bottle has a flattened square form that tapers to a raised oval foot. The foot is flat but the top of the bottle is concave in form. One side of the bottle has patches of yellow and black, and the other has curvilinear bands. The bottle is light and extremely translucent. It weighs hardly anything. The cap is a matching light grey agate on a black collar, cork stopper and bone spoon.
Bottles that were made in the earlier periods post 1970 do have concave foot or tops, sometimes both. They also have varying shapes and sizes, unlike the bottles that are practically uniform in size that are made today.
